On this lazy, warm Sunday afternoon, I figure I’m overdue for a blog post. We’ve been lying low the past week – I’ve been working a lot, we’ve been eating in a lot, so there hasn’t been a lot of Portland exploration going on. We got out today, starting with a visit to St. Patrick’s Church (where a drunk, sloppy sneezing bum sidled up next to Jeff) and then brunch at Muu-Muu’s, our newfound diamond in the rough in our NW neighborhood. And speaking of food, last night we had our first homemade pizza-making experience – success! I have a feeling we’ll be serving pizza to a visitor or two.
Another thing we’ve been doing is prepping for my parents’ visit this week. We’re so excited to get them out here this Thursday through Monday, and it’ll be a great excuse to do and see a lot of way cool things around here. Wineries, Portland Saturday Market, food carts, and more…
I mentioned earlier, this week was a bit nutty for me. The highlight of it, to give you a glimpse into my new Nike worklife, was a fabulous “Women’s Month” event where Bobbi Brown of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics (among others) spoke on campus. I got involved in some of the planning/writing parts of the event, so I did some research on Bobbi and realized she’s a pretty cool cat. Hundreds of Nike women – and about three token men – showed up for a dose of inspiration (and some free lip gloss and t-shirts). It was just one of the amazing events and speakers who pass through Nike on a regular basis. This week Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal are in town. In July Manchester United will be practicing on our fields. Someone please pinch me!
Jeff also had a big interview this past week, so we’re waiting on pins and needles to get the final verdict. Please send some good vibes our way that it works out!
