Enjoying the Widmer Brothers brews

Feasting

September 28, 2013 by kristikrass

The Krass fam has been holed up in our apartment most of September, which explains the dearth of blog posts lately. Somehow we’ve hit a rainy stretch (blah) and Cooper is struggling through some issues that landed him at the emergency vet (the fantastic DoveLewis) twice in one week, and has kept us in frequent contact with his doggie oncologist, Dr. Cyman. Thickening of the bladder, it sounds? For now, I’m getting a lot of use of my rug steam […]

First stop of Joey's visit: Clyde Common

Peoples in Portland

July 23, 2013 by kristikrass

Jeff and Joey “Peoples” met more than two and a half decades ago in their kindergarten class in Brighton, Michigan. Today, the two remain best buds – both West Coasters now, too – and Joey ranks high on my list of favorite people in the world, fo’ sure. Joey hopped a quick flight from Cali to PDX on Friday, July 19, and the three of us kicked off his second visit to Portland (his first trip was epic!) with our own […]

The Heat Is On

July 5, 2013 by kristikrass

I’ve been slacking on the ole blog lately. Who wants to sit inside on the computer when it’s ridiculously beautiful outside? Oh yeah, and I recently found out all my computer time probably made me a partial blinker, which is killing my meibomian glands and drying out my eyes. Swell. The result: I now need to do blink exercises, use eyedrops for a bit, and I got a $1,500 Lipiflow treatment to get those little glands pumping again. Lesson for […]

Spring Is in the Air!

May 4, 2013 by kristikrass

Look at this glorious forecast. I’m in partial disbelief. But I’ll take it! Jeff and I took advantage of the amazing Portland spring by checking off an item on our bucket list: biking to work. The Nike campus is a mere nine miles from home, but 1,000 feet of elevation separates us. We identified a route with help from a cycling enthusiast at work (there are lots of them, by the way), Jeff borrowed a road bike from Daniel, and […]

And We Shall Feast

September 23, 2012 by kristikrass

This weekend marks the inaugural Feast Portland, presented by Bon Appétit magazine. Since Portland is home to amazing vineyards, more breweries than any other city in the world, local seafood, and produce that grows practically year-round, a few people thought it’s high time we get our own world-class celebration of food, drink and everything else that makes Portland awesome. Jeff and I kicked off the festivities with a feast of a different sort: Dinner at Jessica’s apartment with her friends Todd […]

From the Golden to the Garden State

August 19, 2012 by kristikrass

July and August have been crammed with loads of travel and loads of work, which means a long drought in blog posts. And now the fall is shaping up similarly, with probable trips to Vancouver, Arizona, Hawaii and Michigan on the horizon – I think Jeff and I wouldn’t know how to operate without trips to look forward to! In mid-July, Jeff jetted off to San Diego for a men’s soccer tournament with his high school and college buddies. Jeff’s […]

Big ol' crowd at the Portland Polish Fest

Dzień Zabawy Niedziela

September 28, 2011 by kristikrass

In plain English: Sunday Funday! Last week provided a bevy of memorable moments, punctuated by a Sunday celebration of my heritage 🙂 at the 18th Annual Portland Polish Fest. More to come on that later. Today: After a full day of writing at work, here I am, writing again – how do I have any words left in me? I’m waiting for Jeff to finish a conference call with some China telecom guys, so I headed to Starbucks to write […]

Music, Dining and Dancing

August 24, 2011 by kristikrass

(Sounds like such a classy weekend!) Today is a catch-up day for me. I’m tired, our apartment is messy, we have “family visiting” plans to make, and I have two blog posts hanging over my head. And “The Help” is sitting on my shelf begging to be read. So, I made the executive decision to take a random day off on a Wednesday. Sometimes I think catch-up days are the best days off, but I hate wasting them when we […]

Tall Boys, Sunshine and Cheese

April 24, 2011 by kristikrass

Happy Easter! It’s a rainy, Portland-y day, but boy, did we ever have some gorgeous weather the past couple days: sunny and high 60’s/low 70’s. My sister Michelle (Shelly) is in town until Tuesday, and she started with a false impression of normal weather here. Today, it was back to reality, although the rain hasn’t stopped us from plowing through tons of fun activities. On Friday, we got a double dose of visitors, when my old high school buddy Stephanie […]
