The Happiest 5K on the Planet

October 4, 2012 by kristikrass

The photos and video sum up our Portland Color Run experience – although my co-worker Susan dubbed it the Color Stroll since most of the 15,000 participants leisurely walked the 3.1-mile course at Portland International Raceway. It was an excellent way to start a Saturday, especially jogging in a pack of friends who capped the event with a fabulous, calorie-packed brunch at Besaw’s.

And We Shall Feast

September 23, 2012 by kristikrass

This weekend marks the inaugural Feast Portland, presented by Bon Appétit magazine. Since Portland is home to amazing vineyards, more breweries than any other city in the world, local seafood, and produce that grows practically year-round, a few people thought it’s high time we get our own world-class celebration of food, drink and everything else that makes Portland awesome. Jeff and I kicked off the festivities with a feast of a different sort: Dinner at Jessica’s apartment with her friends Todd […]

Three Years of Fun.

September 1, 2012 by kristikrass

On August 22, Jeff and I hit the three-year mark as Mr. and Mrs. Krass, and that called for a celebration. First, we booked an October trip to Hawaii, which has been top of our to-do list since we moved to Portland. What’s even better is we’re meeting Jeff’s bro Rob and his wife Amy there. Yay! Second, we found a lovely restaurant we’ve never visited: Nostrana, a charming Italian spot that’s been voted Best Italian Restaurant by Portland Food […]

Friday Harbor, Sunday Birthday

June 19, 2012 by kristikrass

Last weekend marked a major celebration weekend. My 32nd birthday, Lindsay and Daniel’s 4th anniversary, and Lindsay’s last week of school for the foreseeable future. Time for a weekend getaway! Destination: San Juan Island, five hours north of Portland in neighboring Washington. Jeff and I meant to hit the island back on Memorial Day but those plans fell through. With a paid car ferry ticket already in hand, we decided to give it another go – especially since the islands […]

Flip cup! (Did I mention the party was drinking game-themed?)

A Thousand Words

June 13, 2012 by kristikrass

We’ve had a mishmash of entertaining activities lately – like my co-worker/friend Kristen’s b-day patio party at our place – so this time around I’ll let the photos do the talking! (And I feel like a disproportionate amount of the photos are drinking-related. Honestly, we do much more than that!) 🙂

The Trip Not Meant to Be

May 28, 2012 by kristikrass

Jeff and I had big plans for Memorial Day weekend. He, Cooper and I were going to cross the Canadian border to Vancouver, British Columbia. One of the cities at the top of our “must-see” list, and a mere 5 1/2 hours north of Portland. But…Thursday night, after booking hotels in Vancouver and neighboring Whistler, we made a disappointing discovery: Jeff’s passport expired last month. Total bummer. Lucky for us, we were already planning a Friday night stop in Seattle, […]

One Week and Counting…

May 13, 2012 by kristikrass

That’s right, folks, Portland is in an epic run of sun. More than one week of blue skies and sunny days, with more on the way. We might even hit 90 degrees tomorrow! It feels like summer’s arrived. It’s also one week until my sister Shelly and I will be hoofing it 13.1 miles in the Qualifier half-marathon back in Bay City, Michigan. Sunday is my long run day: I hit 10 miles last Sunday, logged six miles today, and […]

California Dreamin’

April 28, 2012 by kristikrass

After 1 year and 3 months of promising our friends in Southern California a visit, we finally made it! It took a “free all-access tickets to Zac Brown Band concert” nudge from Jeff’s co-worker Peter, but it accomplished our goal: getting to see some of our best buds in a locale with 1,000x more sunlight than Portland. After work a few Fridays ago we jetted into Orange Country, where Jeff’s friend-since-kindergarten Joey (who just rocked the Cartathlon with us in […]

Mugging for our final food cart challenge at FlavourSpot

Sloppy Jerrys Rule

March 10, 2012 by kristikrass

Last. Saturday. was. amazing. A highlight of our time in Portland. To begin from the beginning, Jeff’s long-time buddy Joey was in town to open a Boot Barn in Troutdale (he’s in sales for Wolverine shoes). Last minute, Jeff, Joey, Lindsay, Daniel and I signed up as a team of five for Cartathlon II, a four-hour, city-wide scavenger hunt anchored by food cart challenges. Up for grabs: a year’s worth of free food cart food, free Keen shoes and other […]
