Mini PBJ sandies. Mmmm...

PB and J Barleycorns

February 27, 2012 by kristikrass

Can you believe it’s almost March? Holy moly, where did the winter go? The awards season is a wrap (I’m watching E!’s Fashion Police Academy Awards special as I type), the trees are starting to bud, the Portland Timbers’ second season is kicking off, our Easter trip to AZ is knocking on our door…it’s fabulous. True, it’s still 41 degrees today, but spring’s coming, I can feel it. My eyes were crazy dilated after my final LASIK consultation Friday so […]

Growing Addictions…

February 20, 2012 by kristikrass

Guess what? We had a pretty chill weekend. Yes, we explored some new Portland spots, including the “up north”-feeling Goose Hollow Inn (where we discovered “up north” is totally a Michigan concept) and the aptly-titled Cheerful Bullpen dive bar with Daniel and Lindsay Friday night. On Saturday, Jeff and I hit super-tasty City State Diner for lunch and then Urban Grind Coffeehouse for a Sunday work session. But the weekend was more low-key than usual, with much fewer photo opps […]

Oh, Brother

February 11, 2012 by kristikrass

My little brother Dave finally made his way out to Portland last weekend – thanks mainly to my friend Wendi who offered a free Southwest ticket that was expiring within weeks. (So nice of her!) Dave’s only flown the Dow jets to and from Houston, so his trip to Portland was his first “real” flight. His trip involved planes, trains and automobiles: Kalamazoo to Chicago – where he spent a night with Rob and Amy – to Portland. It was […]

Windy City Welcome to 2012

January 4, 2012 by kristikrass

To conclude our holiday Midwest tour, Jeff and I rented a smoky-smelling Nissan and headed to the Windy City. Chicago – ah, Chicago! My home during 2008 (and Jeff’s home for 3-4 years), it’s where we got engaged and home to plenty of people we love: Jeff’s big bro Rob and his fab wife Amy (and her sister), several of our best couple friends, one of my close buds from high school, and millions of others united by biting cold winters […]

It’s a Wonderful Life

January 2, 2012 by kristikrass

It’s difficult writing about our Christmas trip back to Michigan – there was so much fun, love and activities squeezed into the week that I can’t adequately capture it. We started our journey home the Thursday night before Christmas, taking the redeye through Vegas (our second visit that week) and arriving in Detroit at 6:30 a.m. Friday morning – kicking off some major family and friend quality time over the next seven days before heading to Chicago to ring in […]

Guns, Gambling & Getting Old

December 22, 2011 by kristikrass

Last Friday was Jeff’s 30th birthday, and I knew I had to plan something pretty cool for it. Turning 30 deserves a little fanfare! So…a surprise Vegas vacation was right in order. I’m horrible with secrets – especially withholding them from someone I see every day – so the few weeks leading up to the day were tough. Finally, on our drive home from work on Friday, I gave Jeff a birthday card that held his flight boarding pass. While […]

I'll miss you, Cabo!

I (Heart) Cabo

December 4, 2011 by kristikrass

I am in love. In love with a city that’s at the tippy tip of the Baja Peninsula, nestled between the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean. A city with ubiquitous sunny skies, temps in the 80s, and people who are just as cheery as the weather. Cabo San Lucas marks my first international trip since becoming Kristi Krass (minus our Barcelona honeymoon where I still had my Kristi Redick passport), my first-ever  trip to Mexico and a fabulously […]

Pinots and Puppeteers

October 8, 2011 by kristikrass

The Krass family knows how to pack in some good times. My in-laws, Bob and Chris Krass, swung through Portland last weekend, and I think I’m still recovering from all the action. From wine-tastings to a bizarre fashion event, it was a weekend to remember. Bob and Chris arrived Friday evening, and we immediately kicked off a pub crawl after the Tigers’ game was rained out. We took advantage of Brix Tavern’s $3 surprise beers in a bag (Jeff pulled […]

Swifts, Falls and Goodbyes

September 24, 2011 by kristikrass

It’s a little sad recapping the end of my family’s 10-day trip to Portland – it makes me wish we weren’t 2,300 miles apart. Seeing how quickly my nieces Ava and Macy are growing up makes it even harder. But, as Jeff says, that means we need to make the most of our visits. Which we did on my family’s last weekend in Portland. Friday was zoo day – and my parents’ 33rd anniversary. (Congrats to them!) Saturday was Columbia […]
