A-Z Living

April 17, 2012 by kristikrass

Whew. It’s been a whirlwind two weeks. Easter weekend, we were in super-chill Arizona with Jeff’s fam, and last weekend, Southern California with some friends and co-workers. I tell ya, it’s amazing what a dose of sunlight will do to perk up us rain-weary Portlanders! Arizona, for us, equals pure relaxation. Jeff’s snowbird parents have a sweet condo in Fountain Hills, nestled in a small community with pools, tennis courts, a spa and fitness center just a few blocks from […]

Two Weeks of Timbers, TED and Talk Shows

March 22, 2012 by kristikrass

…and rain. Two straight weeks of chilly, gray, rainy days. This is when any report of higher suicide rates in the Northwest makes a little bit of sense. Okay, it’s not SO bad, but it makes it worse when the Midwest is enjoying freakish 85-degree days. But talk to me again in July when it’s heavenly here. A couple Mondays ago Jeff, my co-worker Kristen, her roomie Nicole and I cheered the Portland Timbers in their second season home opener. Kristen […]

Our home for two days

Guns, Gambling & Getting Old

December 22, 2011 by kristikrass

Last Friday was Jeff’s 30th birthday, and I knew I had to plan something pretty cool for it. Turning 30 deserves a little fanfare! So…a surprise Vegas vacation was right in order. I’m horrible with secrets – especially withholding them from someone I see every day – so the few weeks leading up to the day were tough. Finally, on our drive home from work on Friday, I gave Jeff a birthday card that held his flight boarding pass. While […]

I'll miss you, Cabo!

I (Heart) Cabo

December 4, 2011 by kristikrass

I am in love. In love with a city that’s at the tippy tip of the Baja Peninsula, nestled between the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean. A city with ubiquitous sunny skies, temps in the 80s, and people who are just as cheery as the weather. Cabo San Lucas marks my first international trip since becoming Kristi Krass (minus our Barcelona honeymoon where I still had my Kristi Redick passport), my first-ever  trip to Mexico and a fabulously […]

The four of us at Bend Brewing Company (the BBC)

Around the Bend

July 24, 2011 by kristikrass

When the clock struck noon on Friday, Jeff and I bolted Nike for a short roadtrip. Destination: Bend, Oregon. Located three hours from Portland, nestled next to the Cascade Mountains, 3,625 feet above sea level in the high desert area of Central Oregon. Our neighbors went to college and fell in love there, so they came, too, to give us the “locals only” tour. Bend feels worlds away from Portland. That’s one of the things I love about Oregon. You […]

New Niece = Hello, Michigan!

June 13, 2011 by kristikrass

Today’s my first full day back in Portland after a much-needed, lengthier-than-usual trip home to Mid-Michigan. My sister Lori and her husband Cory recently had a perfect little baby girl named Macy, and they decided Jeff and I were fit to be godparents. And godparents = special duties at Macy’s baptism = perfect excuse for a trip! I took a three-leg, red-eye flight to arrive on Tuesday, while Jeff took a two-leg, red-eye flight to join me on Friday. (Getting […]

Gorge-eous

May 29, 2011 by kristikrass

I made a bold proclamation today: Oregon is the prettiest state I’ve seen. I’m sure there are others in contention (including Michigan!) but Oregon has been a beautiful surprise to me. For the holiday weekend, we decided to do a bit of a “staycation,” especially since we’ll be heading back to Michigan in less than two weeks. We have a huge mental list of places we want to see around here, so it is easy to stay busy. On Sunday […]

A proper send-off for the bride and groom

Two Krass-Packed Weekends

April 5, 2011 by kristikrass

Busy times lately! The Krass abode has been a hot spot, most recently hosting Jeff’s mom Chris and his Cali cousin Linda. Two fun-loving ladies who could run circles around Jeff and me. Two ladies who fell madly in love with the boutiques, restaurants, food carts, and pet stores two blocks away on 23rd. Two ladies who entertained themselves while Jeff and I dealt with the little corner of hell I call the Beaverton DMV. (Silver lining – we’re officially […]
